++ Vision from God is a response to our spiritual hunger, which grows as we invite the Holy Spirit ++
Revival brings a spiritual hunger that seeks God and His vision for His people.
When the fire of spirituality has burnt low for lack of fuel, there is little engagement with God and little desire to hear His fresh word bringing vision and direction.
Vision starts with spiritual hunger:
“The spiritually hungry are always ready to learn more, for their hearts are eager to discover new truths.” day-to-day
How do we get a spiritual hunger, to know God more closely and to hear Him speak to us?
Is it something we work up through religious activity? Dry ritual will only add to the confusion.
However, to be part of a church which values God’s word and handles it well, will put us on the path of hearing the Lord who is the embodiment of that written word.
Praying for spiritual revival puts us in the right place to hear.
We are turning — and encouraging others to turn —- towards the One who speaks. In a noisy, confusing world we have to be intentional about catching the true voice in among many others.
We have to find for ourselves space to listen — not always easy in a torrent of words and actions.
As we turn to God — and we do that through Jesus, who God sent to be our way to Him — we come within the compass of His promise to renew us. He wants us to be free and able to respond to Him:
“I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed.
“I’ll put My Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands... You’ll be my people! I’ll be your God!” (From Ezekiel 36:24-26 MSG)
Jesus showed what this looks like in day-to-day living. But He didn’t leave us trying to imitate Him. He also spoke of the Holy Spirit who He would be instrumental in sending:
“Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you.” (John 14:16 CEV)
Vision from God comes through our spiritual engagement with God. And the Holy Spirit of God is the One who enables us to do this.
